Abstract
|

|
Intra-lesional injection of the Triamcinolone acetonide for the treatment of keloid has been well documented clinically. The mechanism of action of the Triamcinolone, however, to this particular lesions is not clear. Authors have been treated keloids by the intra-lesional injection of "Kenalog" and observed the lesions clinically and microscopically as follows.
1) Itching and pressure pain have been relieved with flattening of the lesions in 60% of the patients.
2) Fibroblasts were somewhat shrunken and their nuclei were irregularly expanded into the cytoplasm like its process.
3) In the cytoplasm of fibroblasts, KER, SER and mitochondria were decreased in number and considerable increase of lipid and lysosome was noted.
4) Also noted was increased immature collagen fibers within and out of the fibro￢blasts and electric density of the fibers were partly diminished.
